Design direction

HomeWork is an immersive office-environment system. It is an interactive wall installation, programmable and personalized to each worker, that acts as an artificial atmosphere providing the necessary stimuli (visual, acoustic) in order to prevent and control overwork.

The design direction follows the feedback of people working from home, who ask for an integrated solution that “does not interfere with their home-space”.

The installation becomes apparent only when the person overworks and disappears when he does not.

This appearance acts also as a spatial visual reminder for him, in a daily and long term basis. At the same time, it gives him the power to make it disappear and stop interfering with his “home-space”.

The additional use of sound is a distraction tool in order to avoid overwork.

The inner timer of the installation, that controls its “appearance” on the space, is connected to the personal computer of the person and to a motion sensor.

design

The “appearance” of the installation, or deformation of the wall, or reaction to overwork, has 2 distinct levels. The dynamic one which is the most apparent and connected to sound and the static one. Both of them are related to the different time cycles of the experience.
